Shillong to Nongkhnum River Island. Nongstoin After breakfast at your Shillong accommodation, get into the car that will drive you west of Shillong. Reach the second-largest river island in Asia, Nongkhum Island, and explore it. Take a stroll along the lovely sandy beaches by the river, where you may enjoy boating, fishing, sunbathing, and other sports (at your own expense). Explore the stunning communities of Laws, Mawduh, and Kawthar to get a sense of the way of life of the island’s residents. Proceed to the viewpoint of Langshiang Falls and Weina Falls, which are encircled by the Namilang and Phanilang rivers, respectively. Begin your journey back after spending the day on the island.
After breakfast at the hotel, head to Cherrapunjee, which is dubbed the wettest place on earth because it gets the most rainfall, to catch your transfer. Make a quick photo stop at Elephant Falls en route. Visit the magnificent Mawkdok Dympep ViewPoint as well, which provides amazing views of the V-shaped valley and the undulating hills covered in greenery on both sides. See a natural wonder on the outskirts of the village called the Balancing Rock, which has withstood years of storms and cyclones without shifting. Visit the Riwai village’s Single Decker Living Root Bridge thereafter. After this, you will arrive in Dawki, where you may have the ultimate boating experience in the pristine Umngot River (at your own expense). Once your boat ride has been enjoyable, return to Mawlynnong. Spend the night at the Mawlynnong hotel or homestay.
on Day 6: Mawlynnong to Mawphlang Post breakfast in the morning, board your transfers to Mawphlang. Get to the Sacred Forest Area in Mawphlang to investigate this sanctioned protected area. Nestled between the Jantia and East Khasi hills, the Mawphlang Sacred Grove is guarded by the Khasi Tribe and the local deity. “NOTHING is allowed to be taken out of this Sacred Grove” is the one severe restriction that protects this sacred area. Start your day full of adventure by climbing the renowned David Scott Trail, which leads through the East Khasi highlands, the route taken by the British explorers. The charming Khasi towns, historic holy forests, verdant meadows, scarce crops, rolling mountains, gushing streams, stone bridges, and natural pools may all be seen along this easy-to-follow nature walk. After traversing winding streets, mild inclines, level terrain, and a strenuous ascent, you will eventually reach Lad Mawphlang. Spend the night at a Lad Mawphlang homestay.
After breakfast start toward Shillong. Before reaching Shillong, take a detour to the Laithlum Canyon, which is located 23 km south of Shillong. Take some postcard-perfect pictures at the Laitlum Canyon where the Bollywood movie “Rock On 2” was shot. Further, start your journey to Shillong. Check-in to your hotel in Shillong and spend the rest of the day at leisure. You can choose to explore the Police Bazaar or other sightseeing places of Shillong (on your own).
